LOCAL WALKS

Walk Route 1

This is the preferred route we take daily with our two dogs. It avoids any steep lane. There is a slight gradient within the caravan park but is generally a pleasant easy and very pretty walk with a lovely view of the bay as you approach the caravan park. The caravan park has a right of way through it (dogs kept on leads) and is a very peaceful quiet park. The route is 1km along the lane with lovely rural and estuary views and then through or around the caravan park past the Christian Youth Camp and then after passing the rear of the dunes system for 200m an easy walk onto the beach.

Walk Route Two via Cwm Ivy

This route and the remaining walks 3 and 4 take you onto Llanmadoc Beach (and or Berges Island Wooded Dune system). So you end up on the Llanmadoc Beach (eastern ) end of Whitford Bay as opposed to the western end which is the Broughton Beach end of Whitford Bay. You can do a few different circular walks eg around Berges Island, or out via eastern end of Berges Island via woods and dunes and then back through Western side of it along the beach. Or out at Cwm Ivy Llanmadoc Beach then west to Broughton and back via Whitford Bay caravan park. Or out via Cwm Ivy to the Cyniger woods and along the hilltops overlooking the beach to Broughton and then back via the lane to Llanmadoc.

Walk 2 Cwm Ivy Tor stone lane

Take this route to completely avoid entering the woods or crossing dunes. Its a stony track and then a sandy sometimes muddy tractor path leading straight onto the beach via an S bend or two but very little or no dune walking required.

Route 3 West Edge of Woods

Take this route if you want to walk through the western side of the woods leading onto the beach via western edge of the woods then dunes.

Route 4 Eastern Berges

This one is the Through the Woods route and shows the eastern route via east side of Berges Island through marshy track and dunes

Walk Routes 4 5 and 6

Via Cwm Ivy then several ways to get right out to the far beaches and woods. The very eastern most walk (right hand side) takes you out over a mud track route avoiding the central dunes and the middle route is straight through the woods and dunes. The western route (on the left) cuts left (westwards) over the dunes and onto the beach towards the lighthouse. Follow the middle or eastern route to the north facing most spectacular deserted peaceful (tree lined) beach where you could be in the tropics. Take a book a bottle of water a snack and a rug and have a picnic there.
